Hump Magnet

Hump Magnet: what are they and what do they do?

The Hump Magnet, also known as the Hump Magnetic Separator, is commonly employed in enclosed production lines. Its primary function is to eliminate ferromagnetic impurities such as iron nuggets and iron filings from materials that are being transported via gravity flow or pneumatic conveying. This is done to ensure the purity of the materials prior to their entry into storage facilities, as well as to safeguard the proper functioning of subsequent equipment in the production process.

Hump Magnet separators are well-suited for the separation of ferrous tramp metal in gravity systems, as they may be easily adjusted to fit both round pipe and rectangular chute transfer lines.

The magnets offer enhanced safeguarding against the entrapment of ferrous waste by effectively dispersing clumps of product. Hump magnets employ a design that effectively releases confined material in conjunction with robust magnetic forces, hence enabling the extraction of a substantial quantity of ferrous detritus from items that possess a proclivity for concealing contaminants.

What is Hump Magnet?

Hump Magnet are specifically designed for use in gravity free-fall scenarios, particularly in magnetic separation processes using free-flowing goods such as feed, grain, wood chips, foodstuffs, sand, or plastic. These magnets are particularly suitable for situations where the material flow rate is high and the nature of the material is characterized by its clumsiness.

The Hump magnet utilizes a pair of robust Spout Magnet coupled with diverter mechanisms. These magnets are strategically positioned to redirect the flow of product passing through the hump, so compelling it to interact with the magnetic fields. The magnets that are attached to the hump housing are equipped with hinges, ensuring a secure and tight fit.

The magnetic hump consists of two magnetic plates that are positioned in an offset manner and are housed vertically. Housings are capable of withstanding the forces of gravity as well as modest levels of positive and negative pressures. The angled configuration effectively guides the trajectory of the product stream towards the magnetic field, hence mitigating the occurrence of material bridging and accumulation.

The material descends and makes direct contact with the initial magnet, then alters its trajectory and descends over the second magnet, facilitating the efficient removal of debris. Additionally, it has the capability to be utilized for substances in granular and powdered form.

The hump magnet possesses an inclined configuration that effectively guides the movement of the product towards the magnetic field, hence mitigating the occurrence of accumulation and bridging. Furthermore, the structural configuration of a hump magnet serves to decelerate the movement of materials by compelling them to traverse the hump in a serpentine trajectory.

Features of Hump Magnet

  • The offset design of the system effectively disrupts the formation of clumps and guides the material into a magnetic field.
  • The product is offered in two variations: one with mild steel construction and the other with stainless steel construction.
  • There is a wide range of custom transitions that may be obtained to accommodate various applications, including round, square, or rectangular spouting.
  • The hinged plate magnets are designed to facilitate swift manual cleaning by allowing them to swing open.
  • Self-cleaning models have the capacity to effectively diminish the duration and effort required for cleaning tasks.
  • The magnetic plates with high power are of the hinged kind and may be conveniently cleaned at regular intervals.
  • The most suitable option for materials with high volume, poor flow characteristics, or abrasiveness.
  • The present study focuses on the optimisation of a cost-effective method for the efficient recovery of deleterious tramp iron contaminants in materials that exhibit free-flowing characteristics.
  • Two magnetic plates are positioned on the flow walls of the V-shaped hump, with the purpose of dispersing the materials and improving the efficiency of removing extraneous iron.
  • The magnetic board is affixed to the box body using a hinge mechanism, allowing for the opening of the magnetic board door to facilitate the removal of metal contaminants that have been adsorbed onto it.
  • Hump magnets that have the capability to adhere to the stringent cleanliness standards required for food and medical-grade applications.
  • The implementation of a modular design, wherein numerous hump magnets are interconnected in a series configuration, aims to enhance the efficiency of iron removal.
